Mark Davies to speak at Fire Australia Conference 2017

 In TENMAT News

Mark Davies, TENMAT’s territory manager responsible for Australia & New Zealand, will be giving a presentation about the latest innovations to prevent fire spread in external cavities at the Fire Australia Conference & Tradeshow 2017 in Sydney.

Many external cavities such as those formed by rainscreens, cladding or external facade systems are designed with an open cavity to provide back ventilation. The cavity acts like an open chimney to allow for ventilation, moisture dissipation and in some cases, to create a back pressure to repel rain ingress. However, in a fire situation this chimney effect creates an open path for the hidden spread of fire both vertically and horizontally behind the external façade or cladding system.

Building Regulations require that Cavity Fire Barriers be installed within the cavity to prevent fire spread. TENMAT specifically developed a range of intumescent Ventilated Fire Barriers to maintain the ventilated cavity and, in the event of fire, to quickly expand, sealing off the cavity and preventing fire spread.

The presentation will take place on Friday 5th May @ 11.40am in Room E5.7 at the ICC in Sydney. Further information about the conference and tradeshow can be found at www.fpaa.com.au/events/fire-australia.
