TENMAT receives its THIRD Queen’s Award for Enterprise
Manchester-based, TENMAT, part of Diamorph, is delighted to announce that it has been awarded again with the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation.
This year marks the third time that TENMAT has been recognised nationally with the esteemed Queens Award for Enterprise. TENMAT is receiving this year’s award in recognition of its excellence in innovation, in regards to its market-leading passive fire protection solutions. TENMAT is an innovative material solutions provider, renowned in various industries worldwide, including construction, marine, offshore, railways, automotive, aerospace and renewable energies.
The product range that was pivotal to winning the award was the TENMAT Ventilated Fire Barriers. External wall systems often incorporate a ventilation cavity to let the building breathe and prevent issues such as moisture tracking back to the building. This can pose a fire hazard, as the ventilation cavity can act as an open chimney in a fire scenario, allowing the fire to spread rapidly up through the building. The TENMAT Ventilated Fire Barriers are manufactured from a highly reactive intumescent material. This material allows the ventilation cavity to be present in normal conditions but will rapidly expand when exposed to fire, to close off the cavity and prevent the fire from spreading further.
TENMAT ventilated fire barriers have been singled out for the award as they offer the highest safety levels in this market and significantly exceed the Building Regulation requirements for this type of product.
TENMAT designs, develops and manufactures this product range at its Manchester headquarters and invests heavily in research and development. The company strives to improve the safety of buildings for their occupants whilst also protecting buildings from extensive damage if a fire occurs.
Mr Gordon MacLeman, Managing Director of TENMAT said:
“As an advanced materials company we look to provide solutions to the most pressing problems facing our customers and the sectors in which they operate. We are particularly pleased to receive this award for an innovative solution which can be applied to improving building safety, not just in the UK but around the world.”
Now in its 53rd year, the Queens Award for Enterprise are the most prestigious business awards in the country.
TENMAT will celebrate its award during a royal reception for Queens Award winners in the summer.
