Get to know: Antoinette Rose
This time we’re sitting down with Tenmat Credit and Risk Manager Antoinette Rose. As a key member of the Finance team, Antoinette has many responsibilities and duties which keep her busy!
Could you start by telling us a little bit about yourself?
I am married and have one daughter who dances. Supporting my daughter’s dance activities keeps me busy, but in my free time, I enjoy playing the saxophone and learning about ancient Egyptian history. I am also a bit of a petrolhead. Since becoming a parent, I have toned it down, but I still own a 1972 Triumph Spitfire that has been in car shows and even appeared on TV.
I enjoy working in Credit because there is always something new to do. The variety of jobs and projects means no two days are ever the same. I have enjoyed this new chapter in my career and look forward to contributing my knowledge and experience to support the success of Tenmat Group.
What does your job involve?
As the Credit and Risk Manager, I oversee many departmental responsibilities. I start each day by reviewing updated aged debt and over-limit reports, checking bank balances, and updating cash flow forecasts. I then prepare for the morning meeting with Logistics, Planning, and Sales to address issues and prevent order blocks.
I conduct risk assessments and evaluate the creditworthiness of new, current, and past customers. I also approve internal, discretionary, and insurance limits and negotiate terms. Additionally, I oversee debt collection activities and analyse data to produce management reports highlighting strategic accounts, bad debts, and outstanding queries.
Across all my duties I maintain a master data portfolio to ensure we set the right allowances and keep the system accurate and up to date.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy all aspects of my job, and I have particularly enjoyed supporting the training of new team members – developing new training approaches to effectively share my knowledge.
What makes Tenmat a good company to work for?
Tenmat’s professionalism was evident from the start, through comprehensive starter packs and training for new staff, and has remained consistent throughout my time here. Tenmat has fostered a friendly environment where staff collaborate effectively, making it enjoyable to come to work.
And finally, what do you like to get up to away from work?
I enjoy travelling and make it a priority to take several trips each year.
I’ve been to places like Cuba, Spain, Portugal, Greece, France, and the Netherlands. I also visit Barcelona regularly to see family who moved there. Egypt is my favourite place to visit. I’ve been there many , many times – I have explored Cairo, Luxor, Sharm el-Sheikh, and Hurghada, and even took a cruise on the Nile.
I still hope to see a few more places, like Alexandria in Egypt, and visit family in Australia and Canada.
