With over a century of material expertise and a forward-thinking approach to fire safety testing and research, we are committed to continuous improvement. At Tenmat we strive to develop and deliver the next generation of passive fire protection solutions.

Our commitment to innovation is embodied in two purpose-built facilities: the D-Lab and the F-Lab. Together, they form the foundation of our product development, testing, and training ecosystem—ensuring that every Tenmat solution is engineered for performance, compliance, and real-world application.

D-Lab

Driving innovation through data and design

The D-Lab is Tenmat’s dedicated R&D and product development centre. Here, our engineers and material scientists work at the cutting edge of passive fire protection—developing new materials, refining product designs, and conducting rigorous in-house testing. The D-Lab enables us to accelerate innovation cycles and respond rapidly to emerging industry needs.

F-Lab

Fire safety testing and installation training

Officially opened by Mayor Andy Burnham in 2024, the F-Lab is Tenmat’s fire safety testing and training facility. It features realistic build mock-ups and a calibrated indicative scale furnace – simulating the pressures and temperatures experienced in real fire scenarios. The F-Lab also serves as a hands-on training academy, where contractors, installers, and specifiers can gain practical experience in correct installation techniques and system integration. Explore how we’re shaping the future of fire protection with our passive fire protection products and materials.
