Get to know: Chloe Adamson
This time we’re sitting down with Tenmat HR and Compliance Administrator Chloe Adamson. As a member of the HR team, Chloe wears many hats which means her role is incredibly varied – which she loves!
Could you start by telling us a little bit about yourself?
Before starting my HR career, I worked in Payroll for five years before deciding to take a step into the HR world. Looking back, it was the best decision I’ve made. In just two years I’ve completed my CIPD Level 3 and gained a huge amount of knowledge and experience across different areas of HR. I’m excited to continue developing and see what comes next in my career.
What does your job involve?
My job is really varied and touches a lot of different areas across HR and compliance. Day to day, I support the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding new starters and managing HR documentation to handling queries and helping ensure our processes run smoothly. A big part of my role is keeping employee records up to date, maintaining compliance across the business, and supporting audits, policies, and procedural updates.
I also work closely with my managers and the wider HR team on ongoing projects, reporting, and improving processes.
It’s a role with lots of variety, and that’s what I enjoy most – no two days are the same, and there’s always something new to learn or get involved in.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The thing I enjoy most about my job is the variety and the people and I love being involved in so many different parts of the employee experience – whether that’s supporting someone through onboarding, helping resolve a query, or working on improvements behind the scenes. I get a lot of satisfaction from knowing the work I do helps things run smoothly and supports both employees and managers
I also really enjoy being part of a supportive team. Working closely with my colleagues and learning from the people around me has helped me grow so much in a short space of time. The mix of people-focused work, problem‑solving, and continuous learning is what makes the role rewarding for me.
What does a typical day look like for you?
A typical day for me is a blend of work. Which means every day brings something a little different. I usually start my morning by checking emails, prioritising any urgent queries, and planning out what needs to be completed. From there, my day can involve anything from onboarding new starters and updating employee records, to preparing documents, supporting managers, or responding to employee queries.
On the compliance side, I make sure our processes and systems are up to date, assist with audits, and help maintain accurate documentation across the business.
The variety is what I enjoy most, some days are more people-focused, others are more project-based, and often it’s a mix of both. There’s always something new to learn and get involved in, which keeps the role interesting and rewarding
What makes Tenmat a good company to work for?
Tenmat is a great company to work for because it genuinely puts its people at the centre of everything. There’s a real mix of experience across the business, and you can feel the loyalty from those who have been here for many years. The company encourages growth, supports development, and gives you the opportunity to build your skills and progress in your role.
One thing that stands out is the friendly, down to earth atmosphere – everyone is approachable, helpful, and willing to support each other, which creates a really positive environment to work in. We also like to make work enjoyable as a HR team through team events, fun activities, and community focused initiatives that bring people together.
And finally, what do you like to get up to away from work?
Away from work, I love winding down by going to the gym and keeping active. I also really enjoy travelling and visiting new countries whenever I can; exploring new places is one of my favourite ways to switch off. Most of all, I love spending quality time with my family and friends, whether that’s going out, staying in, or just catching up. Making the most of my downtime with the people who matter most is really important to me.
