A day in the life: Ed Peltor
We had a little bit of time to sit down with the managing director of Fire Protection – Ed Peltor, to talk about what takes up his time on a normal day, the different responsibilities of his role, and the things he gets up to in his time off!
Could you start by telling us a little bit about yourself?
Of course, well I’ve been in the construction industry for about 36 years, and the insulation sector for 25 years! Throughout this time I’ve worked for the likes of ROCKWOOL, SIG, and Minster before joining Diamorph, who own Tenmat. Since I’ve been here we’ve also acquired PFC Corofil in 2021.
What does your job involve?
It’s a real variety, from sales, marketing, product development, finance, acquisitions and production. Be that in Manchester for Tenmat, America for our US business or London for PFC, not to mention the many different places in between for our customers!
What do you enjoy the most about your job?
This is an easy one! For me it’s always the people, be it the customer or the colleagues, its where the challenges are too. But working with people is something I really enjoy, and see huge value in!
What does a typical day look like for you?
My day would typically involve a mixture of internal and external meetings, still too many of which are not face to face, discussing issues as well as opportunities – we are an innovative manufacturer, as this is the DNA of Tenmat, so we are constantly testing ideas in our in house furnace as well as externally!
What makes Diamorph a good Company to work for?
Again, it’s the people! Despite being long established Diamorph are also very progressive and care about their people.
And finally, what do you like to get up to away from work?
Away from having young children and supporting them, I enjoy watching rugby and F1, and still do a bit of running, although my Marathon days are behind me (I think!). I also deliver blood as a volunteer on my motorbike and as a member of the Parish Council, look after the buildings for our Church. I think it’s fair to say, for those that know me, that I also enjoy socialising!
