Guidance confirmed for Green Homes Grant

 In TENMAT News

Tenmat loft covers are the tried and approved product for meeting all of the pas2030:2019 requirements for downlight proection in loft insulation.

The Green Homes Grant scheme has recently been launched and is expected to be a major contributor to the UK becoming carbon neutral. The installation of loft insulation is one of the key ways of reducing home energy usage.

There are potential risks of overheating downlights when they are buried in loft insulation is a critical aspect of loft insulation and therefore they is clear guidance in the installation standards PAS2030:2019 and PAS2035:2019 section BFM.9 which requires the downlights to be protected / covered or boxed with a product which meets very stringent performance requirements which is laid out in “The general requirements and guidance for the installation of loft insulation”.

TENMAT’s loft cover range have been the tried and tested solution to meet all of the latest requirement and indeed has been the only product to meet all of the onerous performance requirements in previous ECO1 and ECO2 insulation schemes.

The TENMAT loft covers meet and exceed the full requirements of the F-capped standard (ability to maintain running temperatures when fully buried in insulation)  and the requirements of BS EN 60598 for lamps up to 50 Watts (including both halogen aluminium reflector and dichroic types) along with the IP6X dust tightness requirement.

The TENMAT loft covers also exceed the requirements of PAS2030:2019 by being fire tested to meet a 30 minute requirement in an insulated ceiling, this all adds to greater peace of mind to both the installers and occupiers of houses with insulated lofts.
